NF EN 10139 and NF EN 10140
The
standards for Cold Rolled Narrow Strip
are changing and looking towards Europe.
Uncoated and mild cold rolled steel sheets.
Note : This is just a summary : please see the original texts.
Mild steel narrow strip : NF EN10139 - Dec 97
NF EN 10139 cancels and replaces following standards :
NF A37501, DIN 1624, BS 1449 part1.9Main changes :
thickness (max) : 10 mm instead of 6 mm,
specified chemical analysis,
grades : 5 instead of 3,
different levels of work hardening : 7 for DC01 and 6 for DC03 and DC04,
different designations,
no index of Erichsen drawing, nor values of bending radii,
values of coefficients of plastic strain ratio r and tensile hardening component n,
modifications of the surface characteristics.
Sizes and shape tolerances : NF EN 10140 - Nov 96
NF EN 10140 cancels and replaces the following standards :
NF A47501, DIN 1544, BS 1449 part.1.13Main changes :
Thickness tolerances :
- for widths < 250 mm, narrowing of the tolerances of class A,
- for widths from 250 mm to 600, narrowing of the tolerances mainly for classes A and B,
Width tolerances : narrowing of the tolerances,
Length tolerances : creation of a class B corresponding to narrower tolerances.
Surface characteristics
Standard products are delivered with a surface appearance MA and a smooth finish RL (ex S1).
Three surface appearance
MA : pores, small defects and light rays accepted (ex S1),
MB : pores, rays and scratches accepted if they do not affect the polished
and flat aspect of the surface visible to the naked eye (ex S2),
MC : pores, rays and scratches accepted if they do not affect the miror finish
apsect of the surface (ex S3).Four surface finishing
